Lucky Coin
Lucky Coin surprised me. On the surface it looks like a simple tap-and-go platformer, but the more you play the more it opens up. You control a small tinker who travels between sky islands, collecting worn coins that unlock little gadgets and shortcuts. The coin here is just the world's currency for crafting and doors, nothing more, and it fits the cozy fantasy mood nicely.
Controls are the highlight for me. It's a two-thumb layout: one side for movement, one for a context action that changes depending on what you're near. It never felt cramped even on a smaller phone, and the levels are laid out so you rarely fight the touchscreen. The art is hand-drawn and warm, and the little animations when you solve a route are genuinely satisfying.
There's a light progression loop where your gadgets carry over, so a wall you couldn't pass in chapter one becomes trivial later. I finished the main run in a few evenings and went back to hunt the tucked-away areas. It respects your time and doesn't nag you to come back with alerts every hour.
What we liked
- Comfortable two-thumb controls
- Warm hand-drawn islands to explore
- Gentle progression that carries between chapters
